New service to be available on Sky Digital RTE Interactive has this week announced that it is going to develop a digital teletext service on the Sky Digital platform. The service is to be developed using the Sysmedia Plasma Magenta software and will allow the authority to convert its AERTEL content to SkyDigital's OpenTV format. Currently it appears the service will be a direct port of the RTE Interactive Aertel service, though obviously with a different navigational system and some enchancements for the SkyDigital platform. Its' unknown whether RTE will also develop for NTL's Liberate platform, or for any future DTT system. A launch date for the service, which will be the first digital service developed by RTE, is unknown, though it is unlikely to be for some time yet.
