Match now to be live and exclusive on Sky Sports Sky has changed its mind over its decision earlier this year to broadcast the first Republic of Ireland football qualifier for the UEFA European Championship on basic pay-TV channel Sky One, instead it has reverted to broadcasting the match only on premium service Sky Sports. No public explaination has been made, though Sky would probably argue that they never offically announced that the match would be on Sky One anyway. The decision appears to be a reaction to the government's decision to proceed with its listing of sports events, to include the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship. The government's list is shortly to be brought before Cabinet by Communications Minister Dermot Ahern, it will then be sent to the European Commission for apporval.
