Welcome to the Parnassus Arts Group web site ...

Firstly, Parnassus want to apologise ... it has not been possible to update this site for some time ... however, we are now back on the air ...

Some sections of the site that you should visit:

Next Venture from Parnassus

The next production from Parnassus will reach the stage in June 2008. The play is Noel Coward's comedy, "Blithe Spirit". It will be presented at Players Theatre, Trinity College, Dublin, from 17th to 21st June 2008. Watch this space for further info ...

"The Whiteheaded Boy"

The most recent production from Parnassus was Lennox Robinson's, "The Whiteheaded Boy". It was presented at Theatre@36, 36 Parnell Square West, Dublin, from 27th November to 1st December, 2007. Click here for further details.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe, 2006

Parnassus have successfully completed their first appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The group revived their production of "Dolly West's Kitchen" by Frank McGuinness and presented it at the Zoo Venues, 140 The Pleasance, Edinburgh, from 6th to 12th August 2006. The production received a four star review from broadwaybaby.com. Click here for full details on the production. The play was originally presented at T@36, 36 Parnell Square West, from 4th to 8th April 2006.

Parnassus member Declan O'Brien has recently released a CD of his monologues, called, amazingly enough, "The Decalogues". If you want to get a copy of this hugely entertaining CD you should contact decalogues@oceanfree.net.

In 2001, Parnassus published a MAGAZINE, to mark the 20th Anniversary of the groups start. In this section just some of the milestones from our first 20 years on the road are remembered in reprints from that magazine.

So, who are the Parnassus Arts Group?

Parnassus is an amateur drama group, based in Dublin, which has been presenting a wide range of theatre in the Dublin area, and throughout Ireland for the last twenty-five years.

The plays presented have included the works of a diverse group of writers, ranging from Brian Friel to Woody Allen, Arthur Miller to Marie Jones, Barrie Keeffe to John Banville, Oscar Wilde to Graham Reid, Tennessee Williams to Paul Mercier, and Sean O'Casey to Vaclav Havel.

The group has also presented original comedy material, most notably in shows such as "Eurovision, Me Arse!" and "World Cup, Me Arse!" The latter played to capacity crowds at Dublin's Olympia Theatre, some years ago, and reached number four in the Irish Album Charts when it was launched on an unsuspecting market as an audio tape recording some years ago!

By the way, we have been receiving requests for copies of those recordings. They are now no longer commercially available, but there are a few copies available if you want to contact us at seamusathackaberry@eircom.net
